Christmas is a key part of the eternal story we are living in, where God himself takes on flesh and reveals how we ought to live as beacons of hope amidst cultural darkness. As Christmas lights brighten a home, so should Christians illuminate the hope of heaven on earth today. We Rethink Christmas at Madison Park Church to intentionally make sure we remember and take action on the fact that we are all, as Christians, missionaries in a land that is not our home, amidst billions of people who don’t know Jesus as their saving King. Tragically, many will celebrate the holiday of Christmas while never personally unwrapping the hope of true Christmas.
As Christians, we take seriously our responsibility to be a part of Jesus' prayer, “on earth as it is in heaven.” Madison Park Church is taking the Rethink Christmas season to examine the consequences of a consumer and materialistically-driven world and ask how we can follow Jesus’ countercultural prayer in life-changing ways. This year, we will, together, seek to be part of making an “on earth as it is in heaven” impact globally and locally.
