A new year and new beginnings for everyone. That is a pretty
refreshing feeling. It is like taking a shower for the first time in
a week
(all you junior high boys can relate). It's like returning home from
a long
trip camping. It's like brushing your teeth after you eat Onions or
Garlic.
It's like getting a redo in a game.
God is all about new beginnings. I hope that this new year you will
think about resolutions you can make. Not resolutions that are merely
physical things or to break bad habits, although those are good. Instead,
think about what you can do to grow in your spiritual life.
Here's some ideas:
1. Read the Bible through in a year.
2. Read part of the Bible every day.
3. Memorize a verse a week.
4. Don't miss a single Sunday of church.
5. Go to a Discipleship Class
6. If you have not come in a while or have never tried it, give
Fusion a try on Sunday nights.
7. Go on our Know Sweat Service Project July 3-7
8. Spend a week at CIY or church camp this year.
9. Pray for your friends at school.
10. Start giving $5 every week to church.
The possibilities are endless for you to grow. The problem often is
that we never set goals to grow. So, do not let this year slip by without
a
chance to get closer to God. These goals are not set so we make sure
we
don't upset God or to verify that we are good people. Instead, they
should
be set because we love God and want to get to know Him better.
I know this year is going to be great. Even if I have the worst
year of my life physically, I always know I have a chance to grow
spiritually. Because even in the problems and dark times, God is there.
He
is always ready to give us a fresh start, a new beginning.
